Local Housing Strategy

Aberdeen City Council are pleased to announce the Aberdeen City Local Housing Strategy (LHS) 2012 – 2017 is now available. The LHS was approved by the Housing & Environment Committee on the 28th August 2012. The Final Draft LHS was submitted to the Scottish Government for assessment to ensure the Council has complied with their LHS Guidance.

An Executive Summary and all the appendices used in the development of the LHS are all available on this website.

The LHS sets out the priorities and actions under eight key themes and covers a wide range of housing and related issues across all tenures. It is built on the strong foundation provided by the Council's first LHS and has been developed to take account of the progress already made in meeting housing needs in Aberdeen City, the changing national and local policy and new and emerging housing challenges.

Based on the new guidance, the Council is no longer required to prepare separate strategies for homelessness, housing support and fuel poverty, but needs to ensure that the scope of the LHS will address housing need and demand, regeneration, prevention and alleviation of homelessness, meeting particular housing needs, housing quality/fuel poverty issues and housing conditions.
