How can we help you...

Rosewell House

This service is now provided by Bon Accord Care. For more information please call 01224 570400.

The aim of Rosewell House Rehabilitation Unit is to:

  • Increase independence and reduce dependency through rehabilitation for older adults with physical, social, communication and/or sensory difficulties, and/or mild cognitive impairment.
  • Provide an holistic range of therapies and activities to enable service users to achieve and maintain their best possible function.
  • Facilitate a return to independent living in a timely fashion.
  • Decrease dependence on health and social care support, increase community integration and improve quality of life.

This service is available to the citizens of Aberdeen who are over 65. The rehabilitation unit is staffed by a team of experienced care workers led by an Assistant Manager and 3 Team Leaders. There are physiotherapists and occupational therapists on site and any other interventions such as dieticians and speech and language therapists can be brought in as and when required.

We aim for an average 4 week stay, at the end of which the client will return home with the package of care agreed by the team, in conjunction with the client, their next of kin and the Care Manager.

In the event of the client being unable to return home the Care Manager will assist with identifying a suitable long-term placement. At this point the client will be discharged to an Interim Care Home to await the home of his/her choice. This must be made clear to the client and representatives prior to admission.

Referrals to the rehabilitation unit can be made by Hospital staff, GPs, Community Nurses, any of the Allied Health Care Professionals, Care Managers and Care Coordinators by completing an intermediate care referral form. These can be obtained from the discharge coordinators in the hospital,  by emailing or telephoning the duty manager of Rosewell House on 01224 789555.

Respite stays at Rosewell House can be planned or emergency (if there are beds available) and must be authorized by Care Management. We offer any length of authorized stay, from one night up.

The rooms are to the citizens of Aberdeen, who are either elderly frail or younger adults with a physical difficulty. We are unable to manage clients who are disruptive or wander as the Home is not 'locked'.

The rooms are all single en-suite and have free view televisions and Wi-Fi connection. We do try and accommodate personal preference but due to the high number of clients using this service we are unable to give choice of room.

Special diets and any other special requirements can be catered for. It would be helpful if this information can be given to us in advance.

To book a respite stay at Rosewell House, Care Managers should contact us via the bookings email address In an emergency contact the duty manager on 01224 789555.
