Hello and thanks to everyone who has visited us this year! We’ve welcomed learners of all ages to the Art Gallery, Maritime Museum, Provost Skene’s House and Treasure Hub, including 98 school groups and 2393 pupils, making it another bumper one for our Learning team.
In this final bulletin of the school year, we’re highlighting exhibitions and events over the summer months and looking ahead to the 2023/24 session.
Summer Sessions: Let’s Talk about Art
Tuesday 8–Thursday 10 August, 10:00 – 13:00, free
Ages 15–18 yrs (S3–S6)
Aberdeen Art Gallery
What is art and why does it matter? The study of Art History can tell us so much about the world around us, from our sense of identity, to society and the environment. Join Dr Hans Hones of the University of Aberdeen for three mornings of informal discussions and activities. Full details are here.
You don’t need to know much about art to enjoy these sessions – they will be of interest to young people studying Art & Design or social history, media or communications. It’s easy to sign up – email AAGMLearning@aberdeencity.gov.uk with your name, age and school.
Aberdeen Treasure Hub Open Day
Saturday 17 June, 11:00 – 16:00, free
Granitehill Road, AB16 7AL
Enjoy a sneak peek behind the scenes at the Treasure Hub, where we store and care for artworks and objects when they’re not on public display. You can also explore What’s Your Treasure?, a new display created with pupils from Northfield Academy, part of the This is Northfield programme of artist residencies.
