The Hately Trio are so named in honour of Dorothy Hately MBE who founded the North East of Scotland Music School (NESMS) in 1975. Each member of the trio has had a long personal association with the school for over 25 years from either studying or accompanying vocal lessons.
Moira Docherty, Soprano OSt. J
Moira is versatile singer, classically trained at the North East of Scotland Music School in Aberdeen. She has been a principal soprano with Tayside Opera since 2008 singing many operatic roles including Tosca, Mimi (La Boheme) Violetta, (La Traviata), Lucia(Lucia di Lammermoor), 2016 & 2024 Lady Macbeth (Macbeth) Adina (The Elixir of Love). Moira is in demand throughout Scotland as a soloist with Choral Societies, and for recital/concert work. She also performs as ‘Sopranaria’ with Barbara Scott, mezzo soprano and Robert Duncan, piano. Colin Brockie, Bass-baritone
Originally from Ellon, Colin started singing and acting at an early age with the Children’s Theatre and Youth Choir at Haddo House. While studying at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, he participated in many local shows. He then completed a Masters in Solo Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He went on to sing with Buxton Festival Opera, Wexford Opera and Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Since 2019, Colin has been the manager of the North East of Scotland Music School here in Aberdeen but still appears as a soloist in concert and oratorio performances. www.colinbrockie.com
Tim Tricker, Piano
Tim grew up in Suffolk, beginning the piano at the age of six and the bassoon at eleven. While studying at Aberdeen University, he sang with the King’s College Chapel Choir and was musical director of the University’s Gilbert & Sullivan society. Later he held two musical positions in Edinburgh, but returned to Aberdeen to become a teacher at the university. He conducts the Concordia Sting Orchestra, the Grampian Concert Orchestra and the Grampian Hospitals’ Choir but is also in frequent demand as an accompanist and a conductor.
