ABZ Campus

Applications open for many new courses at ABZ Campus

Applications are now open for the 2024/25 academic year at Aberdeen City Council’s ‘virtual’ ABZ Campus – offering almost double the range of courses than last year.

The new academic year will see 69 courses at a range of different levels on offer – up from the 37 courses on offer when Aberdeen Campus launched less than a year ago (June 2023).

ABZ Campus is a collaboration between the eleven secondary schools in Aberdeen and partner organisations that provide school courses, which focus on meeting the needs of growth-sector industries in the future of the North East of Scotland.

Councillor Martin Greig, the Convener of the Education and Children’s Services Committee, Aberdeen City Council, said: “ABZ Campus is an important service that we introduced to expand the range of learning opportunities available in city schools. It has been great to work with the universities, NESCol and other partners to offer a wider and more diverse range of choices to young people. Collaborating through the campus model is helping to meet the educational and training needs of individuals.

“There is a considerable amount of information on ABZ Campus which will assist young people to make key decisions about course options at this stage of their lives."

Councillor Jessica Mennie, the vice-convener of the Education and Children’s Services Committee, said: “In less than a year ABZ Campus through its successful partnership working is now able to offer so many more courses.  Access to these courses are invaluable to our young people and to the growth sector industries that will be important in the future of Aberdeen.”

The 11 secondary schools have aligned their timetabled columns so that they can offer senior pupils ABZ Campus courses, which are in addition to the courses that they can take at school.

Courses include Foundation Apprenticeships, Higher National Certificates, as well as newly launched Twilight and Anytime courses. The Twilight and Anytime courses are delivered out with the normal school day and enable a young person to study a course in their own time.

For the first time since the launch of ABZ Campus learners in Aberdeenshire will be able apply for 14 courses from the range of Twilight and Anytime courses.

The 69 courses will be delivered in partnership with North East Scotland College (NESCol), Bon Accord Care, Aberlour Futures, Aberdeenshire Council, Robert Gordon University, RGC Online, University of Aberdeen, Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) and CityMoves.
