Excellent standards of care which make a difference have been achieved by Bon Accord Care in a 12-month period, a report to an Aberdeen City Council committee said.
The praise for Bon Accord Care staff came in an annual report which highlighted the positive impact of Arm’s Length External Organisations (ALEOs) on the city’s health, culture and sports.
The Finance and Resources Committee approved the report on Tuesday (5 November 2024) which detailed work carried out by Bon Accord Care which includes services such as care at home, housing support, residential care homes, rehabilitation, reablement, occupational therapy, SVQs through learning and development, community equipment, telecare, day care, responder, respite, and community meals.
Council Co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said: “Bon Accord Care and its staff make a real difference for people across Aberdeen. It is good to see the praise for Bon Accord Care and particularly its staff who provide so much necessary and excellent care for people all over our city.”
Neil Gauld, Finance and Commercial Director of Bon Accord Care said: “I am encouraged by all of the outstanding work that our staff have carried out over the last 12 months. The national health and social care sector continues to face a number of significant challenges ranging to recruitment and retention of care staff, budget pressures, and central government funding available for social care. However, through an integrated approach with our key partners, Bon Accord Care endeavours to make a positive difference to the people we support, every day. Moving forward, we strive to continually do this in line with our strategic plan including a strong focus on our values: respect, integrity, teamwork and accountability.”
The report to committee said Bon Accord Care staff have continued to deliver excellent standards of care, supporting early intervention and promoting health and wellbeing for the citizens of Aberdeen. Through an integrated approach to the organisation’s service provision, its staff are making a difference to the citizens of Aberdeen, the report said.
Bon Accord Care launched a new strategy in 2023 which clarified its current and future provision in Aberdeen and its role in the city’s early intervention and prevention agenda.
The report said during 2023/24, Bon Accord Care has embraced change, responded to system pressures, and played their part in the early intervention and prevention agenda across Aberdeen.
A key area of strength of the organisation lies in its commitment to partnering with other local communities, providers, commissioners, and stakeholders to shape a Bon Accord Care that meet the needs of the population now and in the future, integrating across health and social care, the Aberdeen community, and voluntary sector to support individuals who live there.
