Seaton School Nursery has received an excellent inspection report from the Care Inspectorate yesterday (Thursday 21 March 2024).
During the visit in the week beginning 22 February 2024, the inspectors accessed the following key areas:
- the care, play and learning
- the nursery setting
- the leadership of the nursery
- the nursery staff
Councillor Martin Greig, the Convener of Aberdeen City Council’s Education and Children’s Services Committee, said: “This glowing report reflects the strong and caring leadership of the team at Seaton School Nursery. Staff have demonstrated an amazing level of dedication by working together to look after the interests of the young people. It is so reassuring that the nursery provides such a positive early learning experience."
Councillor Jessica Mennie, the committee’s Vice-Convener, said: “This excellent inspection report highlights the great leadership and staff at Seaton School Nursery. They clearly understand the needs of their pupils and their families. By providing an inclusive and nurturing environment will help give the young children an excellent start to their school lives.”
The inspection report states:
- Children were incredibly well supported by staff who were consistently attuned to children and responsive to their needs.
- Staff had an excellent understanding about the potential impact on children of adverse childhood experiences and considered this in everything they did. The whole family was supported by the team with a clear focus on achieving very positive outcomes.
- Children's communication needs were extremely well supported by a very skilled and committed staff team.
- There was a strong focus on the wide range of cultures and languages present within the group of children attending the nursery. Diversity was learned about and celebrated.
- Strong leadership was evident at all levels and this supported staff to have high aspirations and confidence in their capacity to support children and families to reach their full potential.
- Very skilled, knowledgeable and highly motivated staff ensured excellent outcomes for the children.
One parent told the Inspectors: "On my tour in nursery I was amazed at the facilities that makes it cosy and comfortable for my child", whilst another talked about the staff "providing a great environment for the children”.
The nursery is based within Seaton School and can accommodate a maximum of 40 children aged three-years-old up to those not yet attending primary school.
