Voices from the Granite Industry

aagmGraniteExhibition-homepage

From ancient quarries to iconic buildings, this exhibition gives insights into how the Granite City earned its name. Local workers share their memories of quarrying and working our local stone.

Short films bring to life objects from the city’s collections. Highlights include the Seaton polisher and Thistle wire saw developed and manufactured in the city. See the hand tools used to carve memorials shipped worldwide, whilst you listen to some of the last generation of apprentices describe how they were used.

Presented by Aberdeen City Heritage Trust with support from Historic Environment Scotland and Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums.
