Volunteers make an important contribution to the work of the Archive service. They can provide a fresh approach and a diversity of knowledge and experience, as well as enabling us to undertake new projects. We love working with people to improve access to our collections and encourage a life-long passion for archive records and history!
What kind of volunteer opportunities do we offer?
The sort of tasks volunteers assist with include:
- Supervised appraisal, sorting and weeding of collections
- Cleaning and repackaging records
- Assisting with cataloguing discrete collections
- Indexing and transcription
- Digitisation
Who can volunteer with us?
We welcome applications for volunteer work from anyone aged over 18. We only accept volunteers under the age of 18 through established school placement programmes or the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
