The development plan consists of the National Planning Framework and Local Development Plan.
The purpose of the development plan is to set the framework for new developments, and planning applications are assessed against the provisions (land allocations and policies) of the development plan.
National Planning Framework 4
The National Planning Framework 4 was adopted on 13 February 2023. It is the national spatial strategy for Scotland incorporates spatial principles, regional priorities, national developments and national planning policy.
