Armistice Day

10 November 2015

Council staff and members of the public are welcome to join the Lord Provost of Aberdeen George Adam to remember the nation's war dead, and observe the national two-minute silence at 11am today (Wed 11 Nov), in the customer service area of Marischal College, Broad Street.

Armistice Day is commemorated every year on 11 November to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front, which took effect at 11 o'clock in the morning – the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918.
