Autumn adventure in the October break

People are invited to have a mini autumn Aberdeen adventure with bug-catching and bat-detecting.

The event is taking place around Seaton Park on Wednesday 21 October and folk will have a chance to experiment with autumnal colours, and take up nets, trays and bug pots to find out how woodland and aquatic animals are doing at this time of year.

Aberdeen City Council Countryside Ranger Rob Rowe said: "It's great that we can run this event and to get folks clued into what they can see. There is still much food around in the form of flowers, berries and nuts which will attract many animals such as birds, and small mammals which are getting ready for hibernation."

Nets, trays, identification sheets, bug pots, bat detectors and instruction will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring cameras, warm clothes and wellington boots if you have them..

The next events are Pond Pick-me-up at Kingswells Pond Saturday 24 October 10 am to 3 pm and Habitat Help for Blazing Flies (dragonflies) Saturday 14 November 10 am to 3pm. For reasons of safety on all events, booking is essential. Please call the above number to book.

The autumn adventure fun starts at 2pm at the park's car park and finishes at 4pm. Everyone is welcome but a responsible adult must supervise children under 16 years.
