Carol concerts in Duthie Park Winter Gardens

13 December 2015

Folk will be able to sing their festive heart out in two Carol Concerts being held in Duthie Park Winter Gardens on Saturday 19 December.

The free concerts have both been organised by Aberdeen City Council's events team with help from Duthie Park staff and are one of 11 events being held in the city for the Aberdeen Winter Festival.

Performances from the Granite City Chorus start at 10.30am and 1.30pm, before the start of the concerts proper at 11am and 2pm. The Bon Accord Silver Band and the Capriccio Choir from Albyn School will lead the music and the carol singing.

Aberdeen Lord Provost George Adam, who will be attending the morning concert, said: "The Carol Concerts are a great way to really get into the festive spirit and bring a bit of singing cheer to the soul.

"I hope lots of people go along to the concerts as they're really great fun and the Winter Gardens are a beautiful setting."

The concerts are suitable for all the family as Santa makes an appearance at both performances and will hand out clementines to youngsters. Entry for both events is on a first-come first-served basis

Friends of Duthie Park is collecting food bank donations, and people dropping off goods will be entered into a raffle with a Christmas fruit hamper from CFine as the prize. To enter, please bring along any tinned, packaged or jars of food, toiletries and staple items such as tea, coffee and sugar. CFine will distribute all donations to those who need that extra bit of help at Christmas.

Anyone who wants to make a donation before the Christmas Carol Concert can contact Arthur Gill on ArGill@aberdeencity.gov.uk or can drop their donation off at the Winter Gardens.
