Celebrate the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology with Aberdeen City Libraries

To celebrate the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, Aberdeen City Libraries will host a series of events, which will explore the link between Scotland’s history and literature.

The first event is a free talk by author and journalist Rosemary Goring from 2.30pm to 4pm on Saturday 04 February in Aberdeen Central Library, Rosemount Viaduct.

Rosemary, who is The Herald newspaper’s literary editor, will chat with her husband Alan Taylor, editor of the Scottish Review of Books, about her novels Dacre’s War and After Flodden. Set during the 16th century, in the years after one of Scotland’s bloodiest battles, Rosemary’s enthralling characters live in a thrilling but dangerous time of vengeance, warfare and political intrigue which shaped Scotland’s future.

Aberdeen City Council’s Convener of Education and Children’s Services Committee Councillor Angela Taylor said: “Join Aberdeen City Library for what will be a fascinating look in to Scotland’s past with two of the country’s most acclaimed journalists and writers, and explore what happens when history and fiction are brought together in captivating books.”

Rosemary Goring added: "We are delighted to be asked to visit Aberdeen City Libraries to talk about events in Scotland almost exactly 500 years ago that definitely shaped the nation that we know today."

The free talk will be followed by a Q&A session and copies of Rosemary’s books will be available to purchase.
