10 February 2016
Young people are being invited to get creative, and dress up as superheroes or villains, at a special evening event tomorrow (Fri 12 Feb) at Aberdeen Maritime Museum, Shiprow.
Anyone aged 13-25 years-old is welcome to attend 'The Social: Superheroes and Comics' event, on from 6pm to 8pm, which has been inspired by the colourful world of superheroes and graphic novels, and organised by Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums Young People's Collective.
The fun-packed evening with artist-led activities includes:
Aberdeen City Council's Deputy Leader, Councillor Marie Boulton, said: "The Social is a great way to get young people together in a safe environment to enjoy an evening packed of creative and fun activities.
"The Young People's Collective has created a fantastic event which demonstrates just how exciting and creative the programmes are at our galleries and museums."
Tickets are available now for £3+ 83p booking fee. Full details and ticket information can be found on Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums website www.aagm.co.uk/WhatsOn or by telephoning 01224 523677.
The social event is the idea of a group of young people who make up Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museum's Young People's Collective, who wanted to create an experience, which would help to encourage other young people to feel inspired and enthused about visiting museums and galleries.
Following on from the success of the museum's Friday Late events aimed at adults, the Young People's Collective wanted to offer younger audiences the chance to get involved.
This event is being held in Aberdeen Maritime Museum while Aberdeen Art Gallery is closed for a £30million redevelopment. 'Inspiring Art and Music' redevelopment project, which will see the transformation of Aberdeen Art Gallery and Cowdray Hall through significant investment in the fabric of the buildings, new exhibition and display galleries and improved facilities for visitors.
