Help the heather event
29 September 2015
People can help get the heather and themselves - into shape on one of Aberdeens local nature reserves on Saturday (3 Oct).
Aberdeen City Council's Countryside Rangers are inviting people to help them cut down invasive gorse and broom to give the heather more room to grow and help protect one of the country's most beautiful habitats.
If the rangers can get a fire going by burning the cut material, there will be a lunchtime treat of baked potatoes and roasted marshmallows.
The free event is being held at Kincorth Hill Local Nature Reserve from 10am to 3pm, and gloves, tools and hot drinks will be provided but participants are asked to dress warmly and wear wellies or sturdy footwear, and bring a packed lunch.
Meet at the Reserve car park at Abbotswell Crescent. The No.18 bus stops next to the car park. Booking for the event essential. For more information and to book a place, please phone 01224 326429.
