International delegation welcomed to Aberdeen
30 November 2016
A delegation from Myanmar was welcomed today (Wednesday 30 November) by Aberdeen’s Lord Provost.
The visit allowed both parties to develop business opportunities, paying particular attention to the energy sector.
As part of a visit to the North East, U Htein Lwin, the Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Electricity, and U Myo Myint Oo, Managing Director of Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise, were joined by associates from both business and government.
The group recognises Aberdeen as a world-leading centre of expertise and by learning from the story of Aberdeen the Myanmar delegates aim to develop a successful energy industry in their region.
With the first steps of the international relationship taken, both parties will continue to work in partnership, build upon business prospects and explore new avenues.
Lord Provost George Adam said: “Creating strong international links is vital for our region; I was delighted to welcome representatives from Myanmar and look forward to strengthening our relationship based on shared interests in the energy sector.
“We want to promote the benefits of partnership working and are striving to build on our reputation that the city is an innovative place to do business.”
