Northfield Academy 60th anniversary year ends with a bang
16 December 2016
The grand finale of Northfield Academy’s 60th anniversary celebrations will be marked with a spectacular community fireworks display at the school next Tuesday (20 December).
The noisy and colourful spectacle marks the end of a year of celebratory events at the school including an open morning for former pupils and a drone photograph of over 600 pupils and 80 staff arranged in the shape of the number 60.
Councillor Angela Taylor, Aberdeen City Council Education and Children’s Services Committee Convenor, said: “Neil Hendry, his pupils and staff have once again come up with a fantastic event to mark 60 years of Northfield Academy and what a spectacular way to end a year of celebrations.
“Northfield Academy has had a special place in secondary education for sixty years and it’s great that pupils and staff, old and new, have been able to take part in the year of events and share their fond memories”.
Neil Hendry, Head Teacher at Northfield Academy, said: “This year has been a special year for Northfield Academy as we have been celebrating the schools 60th anniversary. The school is very proud of its community and we wanted to give something back and I hope that the Christmas firework display will live long in the memory. I would like invite members of our community, former pupils, former staff and friends of Northfield Academy to come along and celebrate in style."
