Councillor Malik added: “This year has again been very challenging due to Covid-19 but it is a testament to our young people that they have risen to the challenge and produced excellent results. I want to also thank our education team, Head teachers, teachers, school support assistants and our backroom staff for putting in place conditions within and out with the school environment that allowed our young people to learn despite Scottish Government Covid-19 restrictions. Innovation is at the heart of everything we do and none more so than this year when our Education Service used digital interventions to ensure home learning was supported even in those family homes which did not have access to Wi-Fi.”
Vice-convener, Councillor Claire Imrie, said::“My congratulations go out to all our young people who have managed to achieve such fine SQA results in circumstances we could not have even imagined two years ago,
“The resilience of our pupils and our staff across the Education service has been exemplary and the outcomes are fitting rewards for everyone’s refusal to be beaten by events that have had a negative impact the world over.
“The use of digital interventions to support learning throughout the pandemic reflect our commitment, as outlined in our Local Outcome Improvement Plan, to help ensure that there are no barriers to our children’s attainment and achievement.”
