Revised hours for two city Household Waste and Recycling Centres

The opening hours at two Aberdeen City Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs) are changing it was announced today (Wednesday 14 August).
From 1 September, the HWRC at Pitmedden Road, Dyce will be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays and the site at East Tullos will be closed on Wednesdays.
On all other days, both sites will remain open for the same number of hours as currently which are 10 am – 7.45pm (4.45ppm in winter) on weekdays and 9 am – 7.45 (4.45pm in winter) at weekends.
Councillor Philip Bell, Aberdeen City Council’s Waste and Recycling spokesman, said: “We remain committed to continuing to provide a good level of service at our Household Waste and Recycling Centres and the sites and days selected are historically quieter, which helps ensure that the change will have minimal impact on site users”.
The city’s other recycling centres will remain accessible for seven days per week. They are located at Scotstown Road, Bankhead Avenue and Grove Nursery, Hazlehead.

This amended hours are among a number of measures to reduce costs and increase revenue that were adopted to help bridge a funding gap of £41.2million as the result of reduced funding, rising demand and growing cost pressures.
