Two waste services have re-started
20 May 2020
The bulky uplift service has been reinstated by Aberdeen City Council and a limited number of booking slots are now available.
The work was stopped two months ago as part of operational work to ensure essential frontline services were continued to be carried out and to help minimise the spread of coronavirus and allow social distancing measures to be put in place. Numbers of staff had reduced as people with medical conditions or other special circumstances are following Scottish Government advice to self-isolate.
Staff numbers have recovered and the bulky uplift service has resumed with staff complying with social distancing guidelines.
The authority is also now in a position to deal with reports of abandoned cars.
Aberdeen City Council operational delivery convener Councillor John Wheeler said: “We welcome the return of these services as part of Aberdeen City Council’s recovery from coronavirus work.
“Staff will comply with social distancing to ensure their health and safety, along with the public’s.”
Residents can book the bulky waste service or report an abandoned car through www.aberdeencity.gov.uk.
