WWF Panda travels around Aberdeen for Earth Hour

Bonnie the stuffed panda has been travelling around Aberdeen to events for Earth Hour and Climate Week.
This is part of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) pass the panda campaign where 30 stuffed pandas are travelling around Scotland to see what is happening to raise awareness of climate change and Earth Hour.
Bonnie has been taking selfies at Aberdeen Science Centre, Seventeen, Marischal College, RGU, Kittybrewster Primary School and Hazlehead Park where events are taking place.
Pupils were excited when Bonnie came to spend the week at Kittybrewster School to find out what they would be doing to celebrate. The pupils have been gearing up with excitement for Climate Week 2016. The P5/6 and P6 children have planned and organised talks and events for their school to coincide with Aberdeen's Climate Week 12-20th March.
Recycle for Aberdeen and Graham Humphries from KIMO will be visiting Kittybrewster to run workshops about electrical waste and promote 'Pick up 3 pieces' - an initiative to reduce beach pollution. The children's top tips for helping the environment will be on display at the Central Library and in the Duthie Park foyer.
Aberdeen organisations are hosting a number of events as they take part in Climate Week and the global movement Earth Hour, finishing with the floodlights being switched off at a number of local landmarks.
The lights will go out as the official Earth Hour switch off takes place on Saturday 19 March 2016 at 8.30pm – 9.30pm.
In addition to the switch off there is a programme of events taking place for Climate Week from 12th March.
Aberdeen City Council has gained Super Local Authority status for 2016 for work with partners on Earth Hour and Climate Week events.
