They’re blooming gorgeous gardens and green spaces! The 2019 winners of the Aberdeen in Bloom competition were announced last night at an awards ceremony in the Beach Ballroom.

Now in its 44th year, the winners were picked from 68 entrants in the competition which rewards and showcases the city’s residents, businesses, and schools for their contribution to the city’s floral display.

Awards were presented to the winners from each of the nine categories by the Lord Provost of Aberdeen Barney Crockett, who thanked the sponsors for their continued support and to all those that entered the competition this year.

This year there were 68 entrants with gardens and schools being judged over a three-week period from 15 July to 2 August.

During the judging, entrants were assessed on their design, quality of horticultural features, floral displays, and standards of maintenance, and some categories were also judged on their sustainable and biodiversity initiatives to conserve energy and encourage wildlife and their habitat.
