Work being carried out at Duthie Park

Work is taking place at Duthie Park to refurbish the curved panels adjacent to the main gates.

This additional work is due to savings achieved during the Heritage Lottery Fund-approved scheme to refurbish the park, which re-opened in 2013 after the £5million refurbishment with money from Aberdeen City Council and the HLF.

The work to remove the panels will take two weeks and then the panels will be off site for up eight weeks for repair before being replaced.

The works may cause minimal disruption to the Riverside Drive car park which will have to be closed off when the panels in that area of the park are to be removed and replaced but there will be a further update when this will happen.

Duthie Park, at 44 acres, is beside the River Dee within easy walking, cycling and bus journeyreach of the city centre. The 134-year-old park has the largest range of facilities of all the city’s parks including water features, playparks, Japanese Garden, and year-round facilities in the café and the Winter Gardens.

The café is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and extension of the existing building and is due to re-open in the Spring.
