25th anniversary meeting for Friends group

A talk on camera traps for wildlife is to mark the 25th anniversary of the Friends of The Denburn group.

The event, which is taking place in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, is to be held tomorrow at 7pm at Summerhill Church, Stronsay Drive.

Rose Toney of the NE Scotland Biodiversity Partnership will be speaking on “A Window on Wildlife, Camera trapping in the North East of Scotland”. Many animals are elusive or nocturnal and therefore difficult to record and technological developments such as camera traps provide a method for scientists, naturalists and the general public to detect and monitor a range of species that are often difficult to survey by other means.

The Friends of the Denburn AGM will follow the talk by Rose Toney along with refreshments and a prize draw. All are welcome to attend this free event.

The Friends of the Denburn have been working in partnership with Aberdeen City Council for more than 25 years looking after a section of the Denburn between Anderson Drive and Westhlome Avenue. This group is the longest-established community group working to help Aberdeen City Council manage its greenspaces.
