19 December 2017

Aberdeen City Council has expressed its condolences to the family of June Lamond following the death of the former councillor.

Mrs Lamond, who passed away at the weekend, was an elected member up to her retirement in 2007.

The Lord Provost of Aberdeen Barney Crockett said: “I was privileged to know June Lamond and on behalf of Aberdeen City Council I express my deepest sympathies to family, friends and all who knew her.

“June served the people of Aberdeen with distinction in a variety of important roles, including as a committee convener and depute leader.

“June was a powerful voice in local government as a committed, compassionate and astute councillor. She had the interests of her ward residents close to her heart at all times and worked tirelessly for them.

“June, her late husband Jim and daughter Jenny, who has maintained the family’s proud tradition as leader and co-leader of Aberdeen City Council, have contributed enormously to the city and the wider region.

“It is with sadness that we learned of June’s passing - but we can look back at her achievements and legacy with great pride. As a Council we send our condolences.”
