Aberdeen City Council hosts national conference of local government lawyers
16 March 2017
The annual SOLAR (The Society of Local Authority Lawyers and Administrators in Scotland) conference is to be held at the Beach Ballroom today and tomorrow (16/17 March).
SOLAR serves around 600 staff from local authorities across Scotland within the disciplines of law, administration and governance.
Fraser Bell, Head of Legal and Democratic Services at Aberdeen City Council, is the Society’s current President.
He said “‘’It is a pleasure to bring the annual SOLAR Conference to the city of Aberdeen. With budget reductions set to continue, local government elections in May and the negotiations on the UK’s exit from the European Union seemingly imminent, the challenges we face on a daily basis will continue to evolve. It is essential that the Society and its members rise to the challenge by staying informed and by sharing best practice.’’
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to showcase our city to SOLAR colleagues and I’m looking forward to welcoming the delegates to Aberdeen.”
