Aberdeen Reads Challenge returns!

22 June 2020

Aberdeen City Libraries’ summer reading challenge returns this week to encourage people of all ages to keep up their reading during the summer months.

The Aberdeen Reads Challenge which runs from Saturday 27 June until Saturday 29 August, is open to everyone of all ages to take part in, either as individuals or as a group, with family and friends encouraged to keep each other reading this summer!

There will be nine reading related challenges available to try, covering a broad range of topics such as Place, Get Creative and Cover Versions.

Everyone who takes part in the Aberdeen Reads Challenge will be entered into a prize draw, and those who complete three or more reading challenges will be entered into an additional draw.

Councillor John Wheeler, Education Operational Delivery Convener, said: It’s wonderful to welcome back the Reading Challenge and my thanks go out to our City Libraries team for their sterling work in encouraging us all to read this summer.

“All sort of reading counts; books or eBooks, fiction or nonfiction, picture books or newspapers – anything you like to read! Even If you don’t want to do all the challenges, you can still use them as inspiration for what you’re reading”.

Reading Challenge updates will appear on Aberdeen City Libraries’ website and social media for throughout the summer. The website will also have bonus activities, challenges and reading suggestions.

The challenge card can be downloaded from the website and used to record progress. Participants can also share their challenges or what they’ve been reading online with the hashtag #AberdeenReads. And anyone who is not yet a library member can still join online.
