BBC Festival of Sport open to all
29 November 2019
To coincide with BBC Sports Personality of the Year, the BBC has organised a Festival of Sport, offering local people the chance to try out a variety of sports for free on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 December at Aberdeen Sports Village.
The Festival of Sport will first open its doors to local primary and secondary school children on Friday 13 December. They will have the opportunity to take part in various sports and other activities such as Q&As with sporting heroes, a CBBC’s Jamie Johnson 5-A-Side Challenge and much more.
The doors will then open again on Saturday 14 December to the general public for a full day of programming dedicated to family fun.
Families will have the opportunity to take part in various sporting activities such as Football with SPFL, Rugby with Scottish Rugby, netball with Netball Scotland etc.
Tickets to take part are now available via the below link:

Alongside the wide range of sporting activities, Saturday’s programme will also offer the chance to be in the audience for Q&A discussions with Manchester United and Aberdeen legend Denis Law, decorated Paralympian Tanni Grey-Thompson, as well as a cricket masterclass with Eoin Morgan.
For those that fancy themselves as long distance runners, the Tumbleator invites visitors to pit themselves against marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge. Runners are challenged to match his marathon record of 2:01:39 by running for 200 metres on the 20-foot-long treadmill.
On Monday, tickets will be available to the various ‘An Audience with’ Q+A’s with the likes of Denis Law and Eoin Moran.
On Thursday, General Admission tickets to the festival will open.
It’s totally free to apply, so should be a great family event for children and their parents/guardians alike.
Aberdeen will host the BBC Sports Personality of the Year for the first time on Sunday 15 December where presenters Gary Lineker, Clare Balding and Gabby Logan will celebrate a huge year of sport in front of a live audience of 10,000 at the new P&J Live arena, as well as the millions watching along on BBC One.
