Applications are being sought from talented designers and makers in the North East to be part of the new HAAN Market as part of Aberdeen's Christmas Village.
HAAN is a new, high quality, curated market for designers and makers taking place this December in Aberdeen as part of the Christmas celebrations.
Based on the Doric word for ‘hand’, and referring to the ‘hand of the maker’, HAAN is a new, high quality, curated market for designers and makers in the North East, creating a seasonal opportunity to sell work to the public as part of Aberdeen’s Christmas Village.
The market will feature a diverse collection of artistic enterprises showcasing the work of local, national and international designers and makers within the Quad of Marischal College.HAAN is commissioned by Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeen Inspired, and supported by Creative Scotland Place Partnership.
This initiative forms a significant part of Aberdeen City Council’s creative placemaking and creative industries programme, which aims to build local economies and community pride through promoting the culture and creativity of Aberdeen.
HAAN will showcase and support a diverse range of skills in the arts and creative industries in this pop up event. We aim to ensure we have a variety of work selected for this market including jewellery, ceramics, textiles, illustration, apparel, homeware and lifestyle products, to name a few.
A range of pop-up café’s, local producers, talks and workshops will also compliment the event. We are looking for high quality designers and makers, whose work displays, for example, innovative techniques and materials, creative excellence and diverse skills, bespoke products or multiples, to be part of this new selling platform and showcase.
