Calling all budding entrepreneurs

11 April 2016

Aberdeen City Council is running an exciting competition for local entrepreneurs who wish to start their own business.

The successful candidate will be awarded with free premises for a year within Northfield Academy. Boosting sustainable business, the winner will also receive support and mentoring when launching their business, turning their idea into reality.

The candidate will also work closely with Northfield Academy pupils helping them to develop new skills and encouraging them to aim high in their academic and professional lives.

Communities, Housing and Infrastructure convener Councillor Neil Cooney said: “I would strongly encourage all budding entrepreneurs to enter this competition. With fantastic support from Aberdeen City Council this rare opportunity will allow a business start up to prosper and ensure they get ahead of the competition.”

Anyone in Aberdeen with an idea for their own start-up company can enter the competition. Suitable applicants will receive training in order to draw up a business plan before presenting their vision to a panel of expert judges.

Those interested in entering the Enterprising Academies competition should contact Aberdeen City Council employability, skills and community enterprise officer Heather Farquhar on hfarquhar@aberdeencity.gov.uk or 01224 523361.
