City Council grants on offer for youth activities

The latest round of small grants funding for youth activities in Aberdeen will be open for submissions until Tuesday 15 September 2015.
The Youths Activities Small Grants Fund was set up in 2005 to give young people the chance to contribute to their communities and to the life of the city, and gain experience, confidence and skills.
Education and Children's Services convener Councillor Angela Taylor said: "A huge number of groups have made successful bids for funding over the past 10 years and have been able to organise initiatives which have benefited their members and their local areas. I would urge voluntary groups of young people in the city to apply for a grant, which could give their members the chance to take part in activities that might not otherwise be available to them."
The criteria are very open to allow groups to give free rein to their imaginations when applying:
children and young people must be actively involved in making the application and in the project idea;
funding is not available for individuals;
group members must live in Aberdeen;
groups must be a voluntary organisation as defined by the City Council's Voluntary Sector Policy;
applicants will be voluntary, community and school groups working with children and young people aged 12-25;
staff costs will not normally be funded;
the usual maximum grant is £1,500;
one award will be made per group per year;
priority will be given to first-time applicants;
groups which have received grants in the past can apply for funding to develop previously-funded ideas or for new projects;
applications must not duplicate activities supported through the Community Safety Partnership, the Aberdeen City Alcohol & Drugs Partnership (ADP), the Communities Youth Work Team or Enterprise in Education.

Applications will be considered and decisions made by members of the Aberdeen City Youth Council and elected members in due course.
