City centre Nativity scene blessing tomorrow
29 November 2015
A blessing service for the Christmas Crib in the grounds of St Nicholas Kirkyard is to take place tomorrow. (Tues 1 Dec)
The event takes place with members of the Aberdeen Churches Together, Aberdeen Lord Provost George Adam, and pupils from primary schools in St Nicholas Kirkyard at 11am.
The carols will be led by pupils from Ashley Road Primary School, Holy Family RC Primary School, Robert Gordon's College Junior School, St Joseph's RC Primary School, and St Peter's RC Primary School.
The carols include It was on a Starry Night, Child in a Manger Born, Oh Come All Ye Faithful, and Unto Us A Child Is Born.
The Lord Provost said: "The annual blessing of the Christmas Crib is a fixture in the Aberdeen festive calendar and helps to show the true meaning of Christmas.
"I'm looking forward to hearing all the children lead the carol-singing, and taking part in the short service - it's always a special occasion."
Refreshments are kindly provided in St Nicholas Kirk following the service.
The Christmas Crib Blessing Service is one of 11 events in the city's Winter Festival which this year is the biggest Aberdeen has ever had. For more information see aberdeenchristmas.co.uk
