Council makes a further £10,000 available for Year of Young People Creative Funding

Aberdeen’s City Council has made a further £10000 available to nurture young creative talents as part its celebration of the Year of Young People.
The funding is for five new individual commissions following the success of the initial Creative Funding awards which 15 youth organisations and 5 individuals benefit from the initial £100k made available earlier in the year.
The budding creatives have until Friday 24 August to submit their applications for up to £2k of funding each which is available to young people between the ages of 16 and 25.
Councillor Lesley Dunbar, Vice Convener for Education Operational Delivery, said: ““Following the tremendous response we had to the Year of Young People Creative Fund which saw 30 applications for funding support, we are delighted to offer a further £10,000 for individual commissions.
“Again, we are demonstrating our commitment to youth participation and empowerment and building on our proud heritage of creating opportunities for our city’s young people, who, I should add, will again be involved in the decision-making process.”
The twenty initial recipients received a total of £84,202.00 in funding having been chosen a by a panel including the city’s Youth Ambassadors.
£5,500 is also being allocated towards a Year of Young People showcase event highlighting local talent and provide an opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate their achievements and develop new opportunities.
