Council offers funding for festive community events
16 September 2015
Aberdeen City Council is once again inviting local groups to apply for special funding for community-based events, which will be held over the festive period.
The Community Festive Fund was established to encourage organisations and groups to come together within their own communities during the festive period to celebrate community wellbeing and togetherness.
The fund can provide up to £500 to an individual community group or organisation, which plans a festive celebration for their local community or wants to develop an existing festive event.
A fund of £25,000 is available to help support community activities over the Christmas period and £4,000 is available for Hogmanay events.
To qualify community groups must meet the following criteria:
Any group or club that has received three years of consecutive funding is not eligible to apply for a fourth year of consecutive funding and must 'sit out' a year before they can apply for festive funding again.
Leader of Aberdeen City Council Jenny Laing said: "We would encourage any local group or community, which is planning to organise an event over the festive period to get in touch. There is a limited amount of funding available but we would be delighted to see it go to as many groups and communities as possible."
