Dyce 3G pitch official opening

14 July 2016

Work has been completed on the installation of a new full-size 3G synthetic turf pitch with floodlighting at Dyce Academy playing fields.

This is the first artificial pitch in the city to be designed for use as both a football and a rugby pitch, meeting both FIFA 1 Star (football) and IRB 22 (rugby) standards.

Aberdeen City Council Leader Councillor Jenny Laing said: “Aberdeen City Council has worked in partnership with Dyce Boys Football Club, Dyce Amateur Football Club, and Dyce Rugby Club in planning the new facility. The new 3G pitch demonstrates this Council’s commitment to the city’s Sport and Physical Activity Strategy, allowing people to be more active, more often. The new 3G pitch will be used by Dyce Academy pupils as well as those of Dyce Primary School, and it will be available for use by the local community.

Councillor Laing added “This new facility for Dyce is another fantastic example of how the Council and local clubs can work together to create real change in their communities.”

Access to the pitch will be programmed to ensure maximum benefit to the community, with the pitch reserved for school use during the day, and the three partner clubs being given priority access in the evenings and weekends. Other clubs and community groups can place bookings with Sport Aberdeen to use the pitch from 15th August onwards.
