For there is hope: The Jan Stepek story

06 September 2018
Aberdeen City Libraries will host an event looking at the life of businessman and former Hamilton Academicals owner, the late Jan Stepek.
Martin Stepek, chairman of the Scottish Family Business Association, will show and discuss his fascinating film ‘For There Is Hope’, the story of his late father, Jan Stepek on Wednesday 12 September, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, in Aberdeen Central Library, Rosemount Viaduct.
Through the words of members of his family and people who knew Jan Stepek, the film preserves the achievement and celebrates the impact of the extraordinary life journey of a Polish farm boy turned soldier, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.
Martin Stepek said: “I look forward to showing my film about my father – a man who never forgot his Polish roots but dedicated his life to giving back to his new homeland, Scotland, the country which gave him a second chance at life.”
Councillor John Wheeler, Education Operational Delivery Convener, said: “This is bound to be a fascinating film about an ordinary man and his extraordinary life.
“I’m sure Martin’s talk, which follows his film about his father, will be of extremely interesting with lots of family anecdotes.”
Copies of Martin Stepek’s books will be available for sale at the event.
Booking is essential for this free event. Contact Aberdeen City Libraries on 01224 652500 or email LibraryEvents@aberdeencity.gov.uk to reserve a place.
