Free tours to begin at Aberdeen Treasure hub

28 February 2017

The first in the much-anticipated behind-the-scene-tours of Aberdeen Treasure Hub will be on offer to the public this Wednesday (01 March) at 11am and 2pm.

Places on the tours, which take place at 11am and 2pm, are limited so booking is essential. Phone 01224 523677 or email info@aagm.co.uk to reserve a place on Wednesday’s tours.

The free tours will offer visitors an introduction to Aberdeen Treasure Hub, which will be home to many of the city’s collections of art and history including: painting and sculpture; archaeology; science and industry; maritime history; costume and decorative art. It will eventually be home to some 200,000 objects.

The Treasure Hub is designed to be a collections store facility which includes a public exhibition and activity space.

Aberdeen City Council’s Convener of Education and Children’s Services Committee Councillor Angela Taylor said: “Aberdeen Treasure Hub is a major investment in the Northfield area of the city. The behind-the-scenes tours offer a fascinating insight into the splendid city collections of art and history that are currently not on display. It will be a focal point for increasing opportunities for people to engage with arts and culture, and a venue in its own right for the community, city and wider region.”
