Garden waste permit applications to open

02 July 2019

A letter is to be sent out to eligible residents giving details of the new garden waste permit for the brown bin service and how to apply.

Residents can apply for a permit from Monday 15 July online and lets bin collection crews know that the household has paid its £30 a year subscription for their garden waste to be collected.

Residents who do not have garden waste or do not want to pay for garden waste collections should keep their brown bin for recycling food waste, and there is no charge for recycling food waste only.

The new service comes into force on 1 September so residents should apply by 10 August 2019 to ensure the permit arrives in time for 1 September. Once the on-line application is accepted, the permit will be posted to residents within 21 days.

Garden waste permits can be made online only, and residents who require support can grant permission to another individual to apply on their behalf. People can also use a self-service computer at their local library to apply, and dedicated face-to-face appointments can also be made at the Customer Service Centre at Marischal College. These appointments can be made by phoning the Customer Contact Centre on 03000 200 292.
