Gayle Gorman appointed new Chief Inspector of Education

Gayle Gorman has been appointed as the new Chief Inspector of Education for Scotland.

Currently Director of Education and Children's Services with Aberdeen City Council, she will take up the role of Chief Inspector of Education and Education Scotland Chief Executive on 4 December.

Gayle Gorman said: ‎"I am delighted to take on this exciting new role and am very much looking forward to working in partnership with colleagues locally, regionally and nationally to support Scotland’s children and young people.

“I am passionate about the ability of education to change lives and have always put children and young people at the centre of my working life. The opportunity to represent and listen to Scotland’s children is one I look forward to.‎"

Angela Scott, Chief Executive of Aberdeen City Council, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for Gayle to broaden her remit and the role is recognition of the knowledge and expertise which has been of great value to Aberdeen City Council and the Northern Alliance.

“On behalf of the Council, I congratulate Gayle on the appointment and we look forward to working with her in this new capacity as we work towards common goals and aspirations for the young people we serve. Gayle’s hard work and dedication during her time in Aberdeen has laid the foundations that we will continue to build upon.”

Gayle Gorman has been Director of Education and Children’s Services with Aberdeen City Council since 2014. Additionally, she has been Coordinating Director of the Aberdeen City Council/Northern Alliance Improvement Collaborative for the North of Scotland.
