Go ahead given for two boundary changes for Aberdeen schools
01 June 2017
Aberdeen City Council has approved zone boundary changes for primary and secondary schools in an area south of the North Deeside Road.
The changes follow a period of statutory consultation for the proposals put forward by Aberdeen City Council to rezone the existing boundaries for four Aberdeen schools.
The first of the changes sees an area of ground which lies south of North Deeside Road and east of Pitfodels Station Road rezoned from the Airyhall School zone to the Broomhill School zone and from the Hazlehead Academy zone to the Harlaw Academy zone with effect from 1 August 2017.
The second change rezone the area of ground which lies south of North Deeside Road and west of Pitfodels Station Road, from the Airyhall School zone to the Cults School zone, also with effect from 1 August 2017.
Gayle Gorman, Director of Education and Children’s Services, said: “These are important changes to secure education for families and better outcomes for all our children. By taking these steps we also ensure continuity for pupils in the rezoned areas as they will be able to move on to the same secondary school as their friends and family groups.
“The changes follow a period of consultation in February, including public meetings, with pupils, staff and the wider school communities encouraged to give their views.”
