Harlaw Playing Field Reopening
20 October 2016
Harlaw Playing Fields are set to reopen on Monday (24 October) after works to repair a sink hole at the Aberdeen site.
The facility has been out of action since May when the hole appeared at the site of a former dye-bleach works, where several underground ducts had been left in situ.
Works were carried out involving specialist engineers to establish the extent of the hole and ducts underground.
The grounds were closed for the safety of youngsters and others using the fields while the extent of the issue was determined and remedial works were carried out.
Aberdeen City Council Communities, Housing and Infrastructure convener Councillor Neil Cooney said: “It is great news that the Harlaw Playing Fields are set to re-open on Monday. Aberdeen City Council staff have done an excellent job in repairing the site, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and support during this time.”
The Council has been working with Sport Aberdeen to relocate sporting activities from the playing field over the last few months but normal activity will resume at the playing fields from Monday”.
