Hydrogen: A business opportunity for Aberdeen
06 September 2018
Aberdeen City Council as part of the Interreg North Sea Region Hydrogen Transport Economy (HyTrEc) 2 Project, are co-hosting a one-day Hydrogen conference with Opportunity North East, Scottish Enterprise, Pale Blue Dot Energy and ERM.
The event will take place on the 9th October 2018 at the Hilton Treetops Hotel. Details of the event can be found at www.erm.com/hydrogen-scotland-conference-oct2018 or by contacting WDevall@aberdeencity.gov.uk
This free one-day conference will explore the vision and business opportunity for hydrogen as well as its production and applications. Representatives from the UK and Scottish Governments, industry and organisations working on hydrogen projects, will discuss the opportunity hydrogen offers for diversifying the local economy. Speakers include Matt Hitchens from the Department for BEIS at UK Government, Corin Taylor from the Decarbonised Gas Alliance and Councillor Philip Bell, Hydrogen spokesperson, Aberdeen City Council.
Throughout the day there will be opportunities to engage with representatives from both the public and private sector.
Aberdeen City Council’s Hydrogen spokesperson, Councillor Philip Bell said: “Hydrogen presents an exciting opportunity for Aberdeen City. We already have one of the largest Hydrogen fleets in the country and there are huge opportunities for other applications such as heating.
“Aberdeen’s oil and gas expertise means we have a wealth of knowledge and skills that can be easily transferred to hydrogen – from piping to transportation of high pressure vessels. This conference will allow local companies to learn more about how they can get involved in this emerging industry.
The event was supported by Aberdeen City Council as part of H2 Aberdeen and the Hydrogen Transport Economy 2 (HyTrEc2) Project - a consortium of 8 Northern European partners working together on hydrogen fleet trials, production of green hydrogen and developing the hydrogen supply chain.
