LGBT group seeks aspiring entertainers for Open Mic night
21 April 2017
The NE LGBT+ Development Group is on the lookout for acts to appear on the bill at a family friendly Open Mic night on Thursday 27 April.
The free event which takes place at Aberdeen Arts Centre between 6.30pm and 9.30pm, follows on from a successful inaugural film night in November at which members of the LGBT+ community were asked about which direction they would like the Development Group to take. The Open Mic night will not only showcase a variety of acts but will also share the findings from the initial event.
Among the partners in the Development Group are Aberdeen City Council, Four Pillars, the Grampian Regional Equalities Council (GREC), the Scottish Trans Alliance (STA), Alcohol and Drugs Action (ADA), Barnados and Pink Saltire.
An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson said “We are really looking forward to what should be a fun-packed and informative occasion. Although the focus of the evening is to ensure the Development Group that members of the LGBT+ community are kept informed of the results of our consultations and have a voice in delivering future events.”
Four Pillars’ Deejay Bullock said: "We are looking forward to feeding back to the community at this event after spending several months analysing their suggestions and comments from the film night event held last year. We hope we will be able to continue working together in the future and bringing the LGBT+ community ever closer together.”
Doors will be open at 6pm, the café bar will be open for participants to purchase refreshments and the bar will remain open until 11pm.
