Libraries Week at Aberdeen City Libraries

28 September 2017

Aberdeen City Libraries will host a free talk by acclaimed local photographer Andy Hall and a free creative writing workshop led by local writer Helen Lynch this October as part of the Scottish Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIPS) inaugural Libraries week.

On Monday 9 October at 6.30pm Andy Hall will be visiting Aberdeen Central Library to help us celebrate the week as part of his tour to promote his new book ‘Aberdeenshire- a new perspective’.

Andy will be discussing what it took to create the book which includes truly captivating images as varied as sunrise at Cruden Bay to the lights of Union Street from a unique angle. This illustrated talk which includes music from Paul Anderson is sure to provide a ‘new perspective’ on the local area.

The hour long event will include a Q+A session and will be followed by a book signing with books available to purchase on the day.

Andy said: “I am very proud of this new book, my seventh. It has given me the opportunity to explore my home area with my camera and remind myself of how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of Scotland.”

Booking for the event is essential. To reserve a place, contact Aberdeen Central Library on 01224 652500 or email libraryevents@aberdeencity.gov.uk

Helen will help participants with guidance on how to build and develop their own creative writing skills.
