The Marischal Square development has been recognised by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors at its annual awards.
The £107million development, a key part of the City Centre Masterplan, won the Regeneration Award at the national ceremony on Thursday evening (19 April)
Judged by a panel of property experts, the annual Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ Regeneration Award is presented to a new development which has made ‘exceptional improvements to urban, rural or coastal areas’.
Developed by Muse Developments in partnership with Aberdeen City Council and Aviva Investors, Marischal Square has transformed a key location at the heart of Aberdeen, creating a vibrant new mixed-use quarter which includes Grade A office space, a hotel, cafes, restaurants and civic space, along with public access, landscaping and public realm improvements.
Cllr Marie Boulton, Aberdeen City Council’s City Centre Masterplan spokesperson, said: “The vision for Marischal Square was to bring an important area at the heart of Aberdeen back to life and it has been fantastic to see that turned into reality.
“The development has attracted prestigious businesses, with those open already trading well and more to follow, and most importantly it is generating footfall in the east end of the city as the public embrace the new leisure opportunities. It is part of the wider ambitions of the City Centre Masterplan and is an important marker for the future plans.
“To have recognition from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors is a wonderful endorsement for the project and is something the Council and our development partners can be very proud of.”
Stephen Turner, Regional Director, Scotland, at Muse Developments, said: “To win this award is a great achievement for everyone involved in the Marischal Square development. All at Muse, Aberdeen City Council and Aviva are committed to the ongoing regeneration of Aberdeen by breathing new life into the city centre.”
