Music and song on offer at free concert by Kazakhstan performers

Musicians from Kazakhstan will give a free concert in Aberdeen next week to coincide with the World Energy Cities Partnership AGM.

The oil & gas capital of Kazakhstan, Atyrau is one of the 12 member cities which will have delegates attending the four-day conference and AGM which gets underway on Wednesday 04 September.

‘Melody of the Great Steppe’ will be performed by the Kazakh Folk Instrument Orchestra, the Chamber Choir and the Zhetygen Ensemble at 7pm on Tuesday 03 September at the Tivoli Theatre, Guild Street, Aberdeen.

The Lord Provost of Aberdeen Barney Crockett, who is Vice-President of the World Energy Cities Partnership said: “Aberdeen is a cosmopolitan city and I am sure Aberdonians will give a warm welcome to all our international delegates who will be in the city next week for the World Energy Cities Partnership AGM and for Offshore Europe.

“The WECP not only offers member cities business and networking opportunities but the chance to experience the different cultural offerings. I am sure this special concert by the talented Kazakhstan performers will be a wonderful music and song experience and I would encourage everyone to go along.”

The concert is being supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Aberdeen City Council.
