New Aberdeen taxi fare cards issued to reflect surcharge change
01 February 2018
Taxis in Aberdeen have been issued with new fare cards to reflect the wider ban on surcharges for paying with credit or debit cards which came into force nationwide in January.
The Aberdeen City Council Licensing Committee agreed to amend the fare card to remove the previously applicable 10% surcharge for taxi passengers paying by card.
All licensed taxi and private hire drivers have been advised of the change and have been asked to ensure the charge is no longer applied, including updating any automated payment systems that may be in use such as card machines.
Updated fare cards have been posted to licensed drivers and copies are also available for collection by licence holders at the Taxi Inspection Centre at Kittybrewster.
Members of the public are advised to raise any complaints about overcharging to the Council’s licensing enforcement or trading standards officers.
