A new video captures the excitement of the opening of the Aberdeen Treasure Hub Museum Centre in Northfield on Saturday 19th November and gives a behind-the-scenes look at the new £6m facility.
The hub, part of the area’s multi-million pound regeneration programme, opened with a free family fun day with arts and crafts, games and face painting
The community was also able to see inside the state-of-the-art building which includes artworks and objects from the amazing collections cared for by Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums on behalf of the people of the city.
Aberdeen City Council leader Jenny Laing said the centre was more than just a world-class facility – it was a significant investment in the people of Northfield.
She said: “This is about bringing art and culture out into the community to an environment where people are comfortable and can interact and relate with the collection on their own terms. After all, it is their gallery and we had to ask ourselves: what are the barriers to people actually going to the art gallery themselves? This is about making art and culture accessible to everyone.”
