Numerous city businesses torque the talk

Spaces for a new Aberdeen corporate cycling challenge are already limited - just three days after launching.

Aberdeen City Council is delighted to welcome The Tour Series cycling event for the first time this summer. Thursday 25 May will see Aberdeen transformed in to a cycling hub, turning the city centre into a race circuit for both elite and amateur cyclists.

As part of The Tour Series support events, companies have entered to experience the unique opportunity of cycling around the heart of city. Fighting it out to be crowned the winner, the teams will compete on a revised version of the circuit, taking in Belmont Street and Little Belmont Street.

The corporate cycling challenge, which is part of an energising programme of events, will take place at 3:45pm. Aberdeen City Council is thrilled to be working with Scottish Cycling and local clubs to host a range of amateur races between 1.00pm and 6.00pm before the elite men's Tour Series gets underway at 7.30pm.

Scottish Cycling Regional Development Officer, Martin Harris said: “We are delighted with the response and support from both the cycling community and the wider population. This is the first year The Tour Series is coming to Aberdeen and we hope to continue working with local clubs to develop cycling in the area.”

The Tour Series is one of the first dates on the city’s summer events programme and is part of the wider Aberdeen 365 Events Strategy, a City Centre Masterplan initiative, which will see new events such as The Tour Series and Great Aberdeen Run, brought to the city in the coming months.
